Manchester United are looking to bolster their midfield, and they’re ready to make a big offer.
“Manchester United are targeting Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Chalameny, 23, in the summer transfer window,” British media outlet Sportsmail reported on Friday (June 5), adding that the Red Devils are ready to pay close to the 85 million pounds ($141.6 million) Real Madrid paid for Chalameny.
Real Madrid is in the midst of a generational change. The midfield that once dominated Europe is now in its late 30s. Casemiro, 31, made a surprise move to Manchester United last season. Luka Modric (37) and Toni Kroos (33) are getting less and less playing time. Younger players like Federico Valverde (25) and Eduardo Camabinga (20) are increasingly taking their place. Jude Bellingham (19) was also brought in from Borussia Dortmund to bolster the midfield.
Chouameni is also part of Real Madrid’s future. Ahead of the 2022-23 season, United paid £85 million to acquire him from AS Monaco. The plan was to use him as a key midfielder in the future.
Since joining Real Madrid, Chouameni has been a regular starter. He played 50 games in total, including 33 in Spanish La Liga.
But as time went on, Chouameni’s minutes dwindled. In key UEFA Champions League (UCL) matches, he was a rotation player. Modric, the established starter, started crosses. Even Bellingham, a world-class resource, joined him. This raises questions about Chouameni’s place in the local scene.토토사이트
That’s why United are trying to convince him to stay. They plan to use him as a key midfielder. The Red Devils have started to shake up their squad. They have placed Donny van der Beek (26), Fred (30), Scott McTominay (26), and other central midfielders on the release list.
“United will soon release several central midfielders,” said Sportsmail, “Eric ten Hagh has been watching Chouameni for a long time. Even Bayern Munich are considering signing him.”
