Doosan Bears’ Kwak-Bin Kwak ended his final tune-up with a bang before joining the national team for the Hangzhou Asian Games.
Kwak-Bin started against Gwangju KIA on April 18 and pitched six shutout innings of no-hit ball to lead his team to an 8-4 victory. He faced eight hits, but they were sporadic with no serious threats. He had runners on first and second with no outs. He threw 102 pitches.토토사이트
He has been struggling in September. He gave up six runs in 3⅓ innings against KIA in Jamsil on Sept. 6 and three runs in four innings against Hanwha in Jamsil on Sept. 12.
“The results of the first two games were not very good. My confidence dropped a lot,” he recalled, adding, “Coach Kwon Myung-cheol, Coach Park Jung-bae, and many of my senior brothers gave me good words.”
The key was to adjust his pace. “Before, I was only thinking about pitching from the first pitch to the 100th pitch, but before this game, I paid attention to my pace,” Kwak said. “I tried to relax after the first two pitches and after the second strike. Coach Kwon Myung-cheol also corrected my slider throwing technique, and I was definitely comfortable with my slider today.”
“Looking back on this season, I’m not satisfied with the achievement of winning 10 games in my debut. Especially in May, I was out of the team for almost four weeks, which was really unfortunate. But my 2023 season is not over yet. I have no doubt that our team will definitely make it to the postseason. I will do my best to help us reach even greater heights in whatever role I can after my return.”
Speaking about the upcoming Asian Games, Kwok Bin said, “The competition is short. I’m going to give it my all. Regardless of my individual pitching results, I want to help the development and popularity of Korean baseball.” “I think it’s more of a responsibility than a burden. This is the first time I’ve worn the Korean flag, and it’s an honor to be praised by those around me,” he said.
“I had some ups and downs in the second half, but the fans supported me until the end. Now I will return to the national team with good results and no injuries.”
